Rejuvenation Treatments
When you visit our offices, Dr. Khoshaba will examine your teeth and gums to determine the cause of your gum recession. After the examination, she will discuss the diagnosis and may recommend gum rejuvenation near you. Our dentist can use several techniques to help repair your gums, including frequent periodontal cleanings, laser treatments, or gum grafts for severe cases.
How Gum Grafts Work
Gum grafts to cover teeth roots are performed with a scalpel or laser. The traditional surgical technique requires the dentist to remove tissue from the roof of your mouth or nearby healthy gums. With this technique, healing times will be longer, and you may have more discomfort during your recovery. Using a laser to treat your gums will lessen your discomfort and allow you to heal faster.
After numbing your gums and cleaning your teeth, our dentist near you will use the Pinhole Surgical Technique to place a tiny hole, about 0.1 inches, above the teeth undergoing the treatment. A special instrument is then used to free the gums so that they are mobile. Once they are free, the gums are pushed down to their correct locations.
Another instrument will push collagen strips or gum grafting material through the pinholes to build-up the gums. Sutures may also go in place to keep the gums in position.
